Z tej samej okazji Poczta Guam z tej okazji wydała znaczek. [2]

If you’ve never noticed the bronze life-size statue of Pope John Paul II in Hagåtña, then you won’t miss it again the next time you’re in the area. The historic Pope John Paul II statue, which used to make full rotations throughout the day, has been fully restored to its original bronze luster.

Santo Papa as Juan Pablo Dos Monument. This bronze statue of Pope John Paul II was erected in central Hagatna in commemoration of his 1981 visit to Guam, the first papal visit to Guam since Christianity was introduced by the Jesuits in the 17th century. Located in the middle of Chalan Santo Papa Juan Pablo Dos Street, named in his honor, between Plaza de Espana and Skinner Plaza, the statue stands on the site where John Paul held mass in February 1981 and rotates one full revolution every 12 hours.

Archbishop Apuron Leads Guam Delegation at John Paul II Beatification in Rome

Guam - Guam's Archbishop Anthony Apuron lead a group of about 40 Guamanians to Rome for the beatification ceremonies of Pope John Paul II Sunday.

The Archbishop has recently recovered from an angioplasty operation at a California Hospital. He and the faithful from Guam were among more than a million people from around the world who crowded into St. Peter's Square in Rome.

Pope Benedict presided over the beatification ceremony which brings John Paul II one step closer to sainthood.

Many in the group from Guam including the Archbishop were present when Pope John Paul II stopped on Guam 1981. John Paul II passed away in 2005.

The Sorensen Media Group sent a film crew to document their experience, that will be shown in a three part program titled "Y Santo Papa: The Making of a Saint," coming to ABC 7 and FOX 6 later this summer.
